Voipfone alternative: when self-service VoIP stops being enough.
Voipfone is the honest end of the market: no contract, every price on the site, a platform it built itself. If you are looking for an alternative, it is rarely because of the terms. It is because somebody now has to design, install, support and watch the system, and that somebody is you.
Providers are compared on what each publishes: list prices and the conditions attached to them, minimum terms and mid-contract rises, what the price includes (calls, set-up, porting, support hours), UK-based support, and whether failover is offered. Telexico’s own entries are our list prices. Where a provider has changed its terms since the date shown, the published source wins; tell us and we will correct it.

Voipfone in 2026.
Voipfone has run its own hosted VoIP platform since 2004 across three UK data centres, claims 99.99% uptime since 2007 and won a Queen’s Award in 2013. Business plans are £5 (100 minutes), £10 (500), £15 (1,000) and £20 (unlimited) per user a month ex VAT, numbers are £3 a month, and broadband is £30, £41 or £51 a month on 30-day rolling terms.
Everything is self-service through a control panel: there is no contract beyond the 30-day billing cycle, hardware is sold rather than rented, and support is a UK-based team on 0345 868 5555 from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, with email replies “usually within the hour”. Its Trustpilot profile stood at 4.6 from 211 reviews on 14 October 2026.
What to check in a Voipfone contract.
Taken from Voipfone’s own published terms and prices on the dates shown. Clauses change; read the version attached to your order.
No contract, which is the point
Services run on a 30-day cycle and can be cancelled from the control panel at any time, running to the end of the period. “No mid-term price hikes” within the period; Voipfone may amend rates for the next one, and broadband rose £1 a month on every package from 1 April 2026.
Nobody installs it
There is no site survey, no engineer, no on-site installation. You buy the handsets, plug them in, build the call flows and auto-attendant yourself in the control panel, and you own the result.
Office-hours support
Phone support 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday; email and a self-service portal otherwise. There is no named account manager and no out-of-hours line for a business that trades evenings or weekends.
No AI, no failover, no WiFi
The range is phone system, numbers and broadband. AI transcription, keyword alerts, 4G/5G failover, managed WiFi and CCTV are not part of it.
Hardware is yours
Handsets are sold outright with a 14-day cancellation right and a 12-month warranty, which is a genuine advantage over providers that rent.
Voipfone and Telexico, on the points that decide it.
Telexico is a competitor, so judge this table on the facts in it: the Voipfone column is from its published documents, the Telexico column from how we actually contract.
| What matters | Voipfone | Telexico |
|---|---|---|
| Contract term and notice | None: 30-day billing cycle, cancel any time from the control panel | Rolling 30-day terms available, or 12 months where handsets are included; the term and notice period written on the first page of the proposal |
| Price rises | None within a 30-day period; rates may change for the next (broadband +£1 from April 2026) | No mid-contract price rises |
| Leaving early | Nothing beyond the current 30-day period | Discussed openly before you sign; we plan switches around existing end dates |
| Handsets and equipment | Sold outright; 14-day cancellation, 12-month warranty | Standard SIP handsets you are not locked to; on 12-month terms they are included and become yours |
| Who supports you | UK-based team, 9am–5pm Mon–Fri; email and portal; no account manager | A named UK engineer; the person who set you up answers |
| Installation | None; self-service | On-site from Wolverhampton across the Midlands; UK partner engineers elsewhere |
| What sits on one bill | Phone system, numbers, broadband | Phones, full fibre or leased line, WiFi, 4G/5G failover, CCTV and AI on one bill |
| Published price | Published: £5–£20 per user a month ex VAT | One per-user price per month quoted in writing before you sign, UK calls included; set-up and number porting free |

Who Voipfone suits, and when to stay.
Who Voipfone genuinely suits
Voipfone suits a micro business or a technically confident owner who wants the cheapest honest VoIP in the UK, is happy to set everything up and support it, works office hours, and needs nothing more than calls and numbers.
Why people look elsewhere
People move on from Voipfone when the business grows past the point where the owner can be the phone engineer: a second site, a receptionist who needs call flows changed on the day, a trade that lives on the phone at weekends, a need for call transcripts and complaint alerts, or a broadband line that must not go down when the card machines depend on it.
When to stay put
If you are a one- or two-person business and the system works, stay; there is nothing to escape and the prices are fair. Revisit when you hire, open a second site or start missing calls you cannot account for.
The main alternatives to Voipfone in 2026.
Each suits a different kind of business. Ours is first; we have said plainly who the others are for.
Telexico: managed and local
A fully managed hosted phone system with the Telexico Mobile App, Web UC and standard desk phones, one per-user price quoted in writing, rolling 30-day terms available, no mid-contract price rises, your numbers ported, and a named UK engineer. Add full fibre or a leased line, WiFi, 4G/5G failover, CCTV and AI call answering on the same bill.
Gamma Horizon through a good partner
A solid hosted platform if you find a responsive reseller; many of the suppliers on this page sell it. You are still dealing through a partner, so judge the partner, not the platform.
RingCentral or 8x8
Enterprise cloud platforms with deep contact-centre tooling. Best for larger or international operations; more than most UK SMEs need.
Microsoft Teams Phone
Sensible if your business already lives in Microsoft 365. Telexico can supply Teams calling too, so this is not an either/or.
Self-service VoIP (bOnline, Yay.com)
Cheap and quick for a micro business happy to set everything up itself, with no on-site install or local support.
3CX, self-hosted or managed
A software PBX that is inexpensive at scale if you have IT to run it, or a partner such as Telexico to manage it for you.
How the switch from Voipfone works.
1. Review
Send your Voipfone bill and the terms or renewal you have been offered. We list your numbers, users and end dates, and tell you what we would change, what it costs and whether staying is the better move.
2. Build alongside
We configure the new system, ship desk phones and set up the Telexico Mobile App while Voipfone keeps running. Nothing is switched off early.
3. Port and cut over
Your numbers port on an agreed date, usually one to three weeks from authorisation, with both systems tested side by side. Your named engineer stays with you afterwards.

Contract
No contract: a 30-day billing cycle, cancelled any time from the control panel and running to the end of the period. Broadband is 30-day rolling on every package.
SourcePrices and rises

SourcePlatform
Its own in-house platform across three data centres, a 99.99% uptime claim since 2007 and a Queen’s Award in 2013.
SourceThe notice window is the whole game.
Nothing to escape: cancel from the control panel and the service runs to the end of the 30-day period. The question with Voipfone is not the contract but who installs, configures and answers; tell us your numbers and we port them on a date that suits.
Tell us your end date →Months away? The date goes into the director’s diary and we come back before the window closes, with a written quote to compare against the renewal.
Four things that are the same on every Telexico agreement.
Rolling 30-day terms, or 12 months where handsets are included; the term and the notice period are written on the first page of the proposal. There is no automatic renewal clause: when a term ends you stay on 30-day rolling, nothing re-ties you for another year.
The per-user price you sign is the price for the term. There is no April uplift clause in a Telexico agreement.
Numbers port across on an agreed date, the new system runs alongside the old one until it is tested, and nothing is switched off early.
A named engineer and account manager from Wolverhampton, a WhatsApp group for your team, and a UK phone line answered by people who know your sites.
Trustpilot score shown for Voipfone: 4.6 out of 5 from 211 reviews on 14 October 2026 (Trustpilot). Telexico is a competitor; judge the points above on the documents linked, not on us.
Voipfone alternatives: your questions.
Is Telexico more expensive than Voipfone?
Per user, usually yes: Voipfone sells software at £5 to £20 a user and you do the rest. Telexico quotes one written per-user price that includes design, on-site installation, UK calls, number porting, a named engineer and the Telexico Mobile App, so the comparison is between a tool and a managed service.
Can I keep my Voipfone numbers?
Yes. Numbers port out of Voipfone like any other UK provider; Telexico runs the new system alongside and switches on an agreed date, with nothing cut early.
Does Telexico tie me into a long contract instead?
No. Rolling 30-day terms are available, or 12 months where handsets are included and become yours; no mid-contract price rises either way.
What does Telexico add that Voipfone does not have?
Installation and configuration by a UK engineer, support beyond office hours through a named team and WhatsApp group, AI call transcription with keyword alerts, 4G/5G failover for the connection, managed WiFi and CCTV on the same bill.
Compared the same way: dated terms, published prices, who each one suits.
