Cloud phone systems built formodern businesses.
Call recording, IVR, mobile apps, multi-site routing and AI handling — all in one cloud system.
VoIP Phone Systems pain points we hear every week.
If any of these feel familiar, it's not a tech problem — it's a provider problem.
"Our phones are from 2012."
Beige desk handsets. Wires everywhere. £30 per extension per month. Calls drop. The provider stopped supporting the model in 2018.
"We can't take work calls when out."
Office phone rings, nobody's there. No mobile twinning, no app, no transfer. The customer calls a competitor.
"Adding a user takes a week."
New hire? Submit a form. Wait for the provider. Pay £80 setup. Get a desk phone delivered. 2010 called, it wants its phone system back.
"We have no call recording."
Dispute with a customer? Compliance request? Sales training? Nothing to play back. You're operating blind.
"Multi-site is a nightmare."
Each shop has its own number. No unified IVR. No call queue. Calls to one site can't transfer to another. Operationally a mess.
"Mid-contract price rises every year."
Inflation? CPI+3.9%? Whatever the excuse, your phone bill jumps every spring.

Hosted VoIP delivered on Telexico X.
Telexico X is our UK-hosted business voice platform — a fully-featured hosted PBX delivering cloud telephony to UK businesses without on-premises hardware. Single per-user price. Full PBX feature set unlocked from day one — no paywalled features, no per-feature upsells. The platform replaces ISDN and on-premises PBX hardware cleanly, ready for the January 2027 PSTN switch-off.
📞 Core hosted PBX features
The base feature set every Telexico X hosted PBX user gets — full cloud telephony functionality. Pay only for outgoing calls.
📱 Mobility & unified comms
Modern workforce capabilities — included as standard, not a paid add-on.
🔗 Platform & integration
Modern integrations and management tooling.
BT switches off ISDN by January 2027.
Every UK business still on ISDN or analogue copper PSTN needs to migrate to all-IP voice before the BT switch-off in January 2027. Many exchanges are going dark earlier. The migration to hosted VoIP is well-rehearsed and follows a predictable pattern.
Free audit & design
We assess your current ISDN setup — how many channels, what call routing, what features matter. The new hosted VoIP design replicates what works and improves what doesn't.
Hosted platform provisioned
Call routing, hunt groups, IVR menus, voicemail, call recording all configured in the new hosted environment. Configured but not yet live.
Number porting
Existing business numbers ported from old ISDN provider to the new hosted platform. Typically 5-10 working days. Old ISDN stays live throughout.
Parallel running
New hosted handsets arrive, configured, tested alongside old ISDN. Staff trial the new system while old remains primary. Issues identified before cutover.
Out-of-hours cutover
Scheduled cutover typically Saturday morning or evening. Calls flip from old to new at port-completion. Customer-visible disruption: minutes.
Post-cutover monitoring
First week monitored closely — call quality, dropped-call rate, staff feedback. Old ISDN decommissioned only after new is proven stable.
Full technical capability under one Telexico relationship.
Every standard business voice capability you'd expect from a serious UK telecom provider — delivered cleanly, configured around how your business actually operates.

VoIP, explained without the marketing.
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) carries phone calls as data packets over your internet connection instead of traditional analogue lines or ISDN circuits. Modern hosted VoIP systems put the call-routing intelligence in the cloud — your handsets, mobile apps and softphones connect to a hosted PBX platform rather than a physical box on your premises. The result: scalability, remote-working, business continuity and feature depth that legacy on-premises PBXs simply cannot match.
Hosted vs on-premises PBX
Hosted VoIP places the entire phone system in the cloud — no equipment on your premises except handsets. On-premises PBX (the old model) puts a box in a server room that needs maintenance, upgrades and physical access. Hosted is cheaper to run, easier to scale, and removes single-point-of-failure risk.
Cloud PBX scalability
Adding a user to a cloud PBX takes 30 seconds — provision an extension, ship a handset (or use a softphone). On-premises PBX requires hardware module purchases, engineer visits and re-licensing. Cloud telephony is built for businesses that grow, shrink or restructure.
Softphones and mobility
A VoIP user identity is software, not a desk phone. The same extension rings on your desk phone, mobile app, laptop softphone and conference room device. Take work calls anywhere with internet — no number forwarding, no caller-ID issues, no compromise.
SIP trunks vs hosted VoIP
SIP trunks replace just the carrier connection — your existing PBX stays. Hosted VoIP replaces the entire phone system. SIP trunks suit businesses with recent PBX investment; hosted VoIP suits everyone else. Both connect to the PSTN replacement infrastructure that's superseding ISDN by January 2027.
Integration with business tools
Modern VoIP integrates with Microsoft Teams (Direct Routing), Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk and most major CRMs. Click-to-call from your CRM, automatic call logging, contact lookup on inbound calls — voice becomes part of the workflow, not a parallel silo.
PSTN switch-off ready
BT is retiring the UK PSTN and ISDN network by January 2027. Every UK business is migrating to IP-based voice (VoIP, hosted VoIP or SIP trunks) before then. The deadline is now close enough that planning the migration is the urgent task — not whether to migrate.
What separates a clean cloud PBX from a frustrating one.
VoIP call quality is decided by the network underneath the platform, not the platform itself. We see businesses blame their VoIP provider when the real issue is jitter, latency, packet loss, SIP ALG interference, or a misconfigured router. The right hosted VoIP, deployed on the wrong network, sounds broken. The same platform on a well-engineered network is indistinguishable from a traditional PSTN call. This is why hosted VoIP and the underlying business internet and connectivity infrastructure need to be designed together — Telexico delivers both under one engineering relationship.
Jitter — the silent killer
Jitter is the variation in packet arrival time. Anything above 30ms causes audible voice distortion and dropped syllables. Caused by congested upload paths, residential broadband under business load, or competing traffic with no QoS prioritisation. Business broadband + QoS configuration almost always resolves it.
Latency and one-way delay
VoIP needs sub-150ms one-way latency for natural conversation. Above 200ms users start talking over each other. Caused by routing inefficiency, satellite legs in the carrier path, or VPN-over-VPN architectures. Fixable by choosing the right carrier and avoiding double-tunnelled architectures.
Packet loss
VoIP can tolerate 1-2% packet loss with codec error concealment. Above 3% the call sounds choppy or drops. Almost always caused by congested edge connections — usually upload saturation during cloud backups, video calls, or background sync.
SIP ALG interference
Many consumer-grade routers ship with SIP ALG (Application Layer Gateway) enabled — supposed to help VoIP traffic but in practice mangles SIP headers and causes one-way audio, dropped calls and registration failures. We always disable SIP ALG on Telexico-deployed routers.
QoS prioritisation
Voice traffic needs to be prioritised over data on the network. Without QoS configuration, a single staff member running a backup or video call can degrade everyone's voice quality. Business routers (not consumer kit) support proper QoS that Telexico configures during install.
Failover that doesn't break voice
4G/5G failover keeps voice alive when the primary fibre cuts — but only if the failover is engineered for voice. A naive failover swap drops every in-progress call. Telexico failover preserves SIP registration and active calls through the cutover so users don't notice the underlying network change.
VoIP phone systems for every UK business type.
Telexico deploys VoIP phone systems across every UK commercial sector. Configuration differs — a busy hospitality venue needs different hunt groups and overflow handling than a 5-person solicitor's office — but every business benefits from cloud telephony, mobile working and PSTN-switch-off readiness.

Frequently asked questions
Can I keep my existing phone numbers?
Yes. We port your numbers across — landlines, mobile-style numbers, 0800/0345 — usually within 5-10 working days. The transition is invisible to your customers.
Do I need to buy new handsets?
Optional. We support most modern IP handsets (Yealink, Polycom, Gigaset) so if you have recent kit, we'll plug it in. Or you can use mobile apps and softphones with no handset at all.
What internet speed do I need?
About 100kbps per concurrent call. So 10 simultaneous calls = 1Mbps. Modern business broadband handles 100+ calls without breaking sweat.
Will calls drop if the internet goes down?
Without failover: yes. With 4G/5G failover: no. We include failover on most VoIP setups so calls stay live even if the fibre cuts.
Can it integrate with my CRM?
Yes — popular integrations include HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Microsoft Teams. Click-to-call from the CRM, automatic call logging, contact lookup on incoming calls.
What about international calls?
Most plans include UK landline and mobile minutes. International call rates available on request — typically more competitive than legacy carriers, with the exact rate depending on destination.
Can the AI Receptionist work with this?
Yes — AI Receptionist is built into every Telexico VoIP system. Optional add-on, but most customers turn it on for after-hours and overflow.
What happens during the PSTN switch-off in January 2027?
BT is retiring all PSTN and ISDN lines by January 2027 — every UK business has to migrate to IP-based voice (VoIP, hosted VoIP or SIP trunks) before then. Many exchanges are going dark earlier than 2027. We migrate businesses ahead of their local exchange's deadline so the switch is planned and orderly, not forced.
Can VoIP support multiple sites under one cloud PBX?
Yes — multi-site is a core specialism. One Telexico hosted VoIP platform covers every site, internal extensions dial site-to-site for free, IVR can route by site, and reporting shows call volume per location. Sites can be UK or international as long as each has internet.
Can Telexico VoIP integrate with Microsoft Teams?
Yes — we deliver Microsoft Teams Phone System via Direct Routing. Users get a native dial pad inside Teams, calls go out via the Telexico SIP trunk, and Teams handles all the UI. Standalone Telexico VoIP and Teams-integrated VoIP both available; choice depends on your existing licensing.
What's the difference between hosted VoIP and on-premises PBX?
Hosted VoIP places the entire phone system in the cloud — no equipment on your premises except handsets. On-premises PBX puts a physical box on-site that needs maintenance, upgrades and engineer visits. Hosted is cheaper to run, easier to scale, and the recommended path for almost every UK business in 2026 except those with significant recent PBX investment.
