The sequence that makes it boring

A proper provider switch runs in this order — and boring is the goal. 1: Audit — numbers, users, call flows, contract end dates and exit terms (in-contract switches sometimes still pay off; we do the maths honestly). 2: Build in parallel — the new cloud system is configured and tested while your current phones keep working; nothing is burned. 3: Port on an agreed day — numbers transfer in minutes via the regulated process (they're yours; see the porting truth). 4: Cease the old service — only after the port completes. The golden rule in bold because it's the only real trap: never cancel the old provider before your numbers have ported. A cancelled number can be lost; a ported one cannot.

What the new provider should do for you

Almost everything: the paperwork, the port, the configuration, training that fits on one page (answer, transfer, voicemail), and — if you'd rather — the awkward goodbye conversation with the old provider. What switching usually delivers beyond price: features the old system charged extra for (recording, apps, reporting) included; a bill that's readable; and support that answers. Choosing the destination is the real decision — our honest comparisons put us next to every major alternative in writing, because a provider confident in daylight is the kind worth switching to.

Frequently asked questions

Will our phones go down during the switch?

No — the old service runs until the moment numbers port, and the new system is live and tested before that moment. The switch itself is minutes.

We're mid-contract — is switching pointless?

Not always: the savings maths sometimes beats the exit fee, and stop-sell deadlines change the calculus for ISDN estates. We'll run your numbers and say plainly which way it falls.

How long does the whole process take?

Typically two to four weeks from signed order to ported numbers — most of it parallel-running while your current phones work normally.
