Business phone system installation, done properly.
From hosted VoIP setup to handset deployment, number porting and integration — Telexico handles business phone system installation end-to-end. UK engineers, UK support, one provider for the phones plus the broadband they run on.
What we hear every week.
The frustrations behind why businesses search for business phone system installation in the first place. If any of these feel familiar, the fix is straightforward.
Phone system installs that don't include integration
Some providers ship handsets and a setup guide — you're expected to configure routing, hunt groups, voicemail and integration yourself. Properly managed install does it for you.
VoIP installed without broadband consideration
Hosted VoIP needs the broadband configured correctly — QoS for voice traffic, VLAN segregation. Done by a provider that doesn't control the broadband, this often goes wrong.
Number porting timed wrong = customers can't call
Porting numbers on the same day as cutover but without proper coordination = lost calls during the transition. Sequencing matters.
Staff training treated as an afterthought
Modern hosted VoIP has many features (mobile apps, hot-desking, hunt groups, voicemail-to-email). Without proper training, staff use 10% of capability.
How a Telexico phone system install actually runs
**Discovery (week 1):** existing setup documented, requirements captured, hosted VoIP tenant designed. **Order placement (week 1-2):** number porting initiated with BT (typically 2-4 weeks lead), hosted VoIP tenant provisioned, IP handsets ordered. **Pre-install configuration (week 2-3):** routing, hunt groups, IVR menus, voicemail rules, integrations all configured before install day. **Install day:** Telexico engineer on-site, IP handsets deployed and tested, mobile/desktop apps installed, staff trained on key features, sample calls tested, integration with CRM/calendar verified. **Parallel running (week 3-4):** new VoIP live on temporary numbers, staff using both old and new systems briefly. **Cutover (week 4-5):** out-of-hours number port, old system ceased, new system takes over. **Post-cutover monitoring (week 5-6):** engineer on standby, any teething issues resolved quickly.
The Telexico approach to business phone system installation.
Six things our customers consistently tell us matter.
Project-managed end-to-end
One Telexico project manager owns the install from discovery to handover — clear status throughout.
Telexico engineer on-site
We attend the install — handset deployment, configuration verification, staff training, sample call testing.
Pre-install configuration
Routing, hunt groups, voicemail, integrations all configured before install day — install day is deployment, not setup.
Staff training included
Key features covered with staff so they use the system properly — mobile apps, transfers, voicemail-to-email, hot-desking.
Integration with CRM, calendar, AI receptionist
Standard integrations (HubSpot, Pipedrive, simpler CRMs), calendar booking, AI receptionist handover — verified working at install.
Post-install support relationship
Named account manager, 24/7 UK monitoring, SLA response. Not install-and-disappear.
Built around real UK business install reality
Phone system installs vary widely — small office migration from one handset to a 5-user hosted VoIP setup; restaurant moving from copper PSTN to VoIP plus AI receptionist; multi-site retail consolidating onto a single hosted VoIP tenant; healthcare practice with compliance requirements. We've handled all of them. Our process accounts for the operational reality.
How it works for businesses like yours.
Three real-world setups we deliver across the UK.
Small office migrations
5-15 user offices moving from ISDN or older VoIP to modern hosted VoIP — typical 4-6 weeks elapsed, parallel running, scheduled cutover.
Hospitality with AI receptionist integration
Restaurants, hotels, pubs — hosted VoIP plus AI receptionist for booking capture, configured together at install.
Multi-site retail and professional services
3-30 site businesses consolidating onto single hosted VoIP tenant — phased site-by-site migration over 6-12 months.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a business phone system install take?
Typical: 4-6 weeks elapsed from order to live for SME setups. Number porting (2-4 weeks) is the long-lead item; everything else is concentrated at the start (configuration) and the cutover window (a few hours). Complex multi-line or multi-site setups: 6-12 weeks.
Will my existing phones keep working during the install?
Yes — we run old and new in parallel. Old system stays live until the cutover; new system tested first on temporary numbers; staff trained before cutover. Cutover scheduled out-of-hours to minimise customer-visible disruption.
Do you supply the phones?
Yes — typically Yealink IP handsets (T-series for desk phones, CP-series for conference). We can supply other brands (Polycom, Cisco) on request. Mobile and desktop softphone apps included so staff can take calls on phones, mobile or laptop.
What about staff training?
Included with install. Standard features covered — making and receiving calls, transfers, hold, voicemail, mobile app setup, hot-desking if used. Advanced features (call recording playback, hunt group management, IVR admin) covered for designated admins.
Can you integrate with my CRM?
Standard integrations available with most UK SME CRMs (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce, Zoho, simpler systems). Click-to-call, automatic call logging, screen-pop on inbound calls — features depending on the CRM. We verify integration at install.
What if something goes wrong post-install?
Named account manager and 24/7 monitoring. UK engineers available for break-fix, with SLA response (typically 4 hour for standard tier, faster for premium). Real ongoing relationship, not install-and-disappear.
What does the install cost?
Indicative: project fee £200-1,500 depending on complexity, IP handsets £80-200 each, ongoing hosted VoIP £8-15 per user per month, plus broadband if bundled. Real quotes against your specific size and feature needs. Often the all-in cost is lower than the old setup it replaces.
