The reality

What we hear every week.

The frustrations behind why businesses search for business broadband installation guide in the first place. If any of these feel familiar, the fix is straightforward.

⏱️

Install dates that keep slipping

Carrier-direct installs slip routinely. Engineer doesn't show, building access blocked, civils needed nobody mentioned — without managed delivery, you chase the carrier.

🪛

Kit dropped on the desk, no configuration

Tier-1 reseller installs often end with 'plug it in yourself' — no integration with VoIP, no WiFi setup, no failover configured.

🏗️

Civils complications nobody warned you about

Some buildings need fibre civils work (Openreach trenching, duct clearance, internal cable runs) — costly and slow if not flagged early.

📞

Phone porting timed wrong = customers can't reach you

Number porting needs careful sequencing against broadband cutover. Done wrong, you lose calls during the transition.

How it works

How business broadband installation actually works

**Step 1 — Address check (day 1-2):** Live carrier check at your specific unit. FTTP via Openreach/CityFibre? FTTC? Altnet? Starlink? We tell you honestly what's available now and what's coming. **Step 2 — Survey and design (day 3-5):** Site survey if needed — cable route, router placement, WiFi access point locations, integration with existing kit. **Step 3 — Order placement (day 5-7):** Carrier slot booked, install date confirmed. **Step 4 — Civils work if required (week 2-4):** Where the building isn't already enabled, Openreach or CityFibre civils runs fibre in. Adds time but unavoidable. **Step 5 — Install day (typical day 10-15):** Carrier engineer plus Telexico engineer attending. Physical line terminated, managed router commissioned, VoIP integrated, WiFi configured, QoS set. **Step 6 — Cutover (day 15-20):** Number porting scheduled separately, often a week after broadband cutover. Old services stay live until then. **Step 7 — Handover (day 18-25):** Documentation, account manager introduced, 24/7 monitoring active.

What you get

The Telexico approach to business broadband installation guide.

Six things our customers consistently tell us matter.

📋

Project-managed delivery

Telexico project manager owns the install from address check to handover — single point of accountability.

👷

Telexico engineer at the install

Not just the carrier's civil engineer — Telexico attends to commission kit, configure network, integrate VoIP.

⏱️

Honest timescales

We give realistic dates, not best-case dates. Civils complications flagged early. Slippages communicated openly.

📞

Migration coordinated cleanly

Phone porting, broadband cutover, hosted VoIP cutover sequenced so the business doesn't go down.

🔗

Integration with VoIP and WiFi included

Install ends with everything working — fibre, managed router, hosted phones, business WiFi, optional failover.

📊

Documentation and handover

Network diagram, kit list, access credentials, support contact — proper post-install handover so you know what's installed.

Consultative, not commodity

Built around real UK install reality

Installs vary widely — purpose-built modern commercial is straightforward; converted Victorian offices need sensitive cable runs; multi-tenant buildings need landlord coordination; listed buildings need conservation-aware civils; remote rural addresses sometimes need leased-line civils or Starlink. We've handled all of them. Our process accounts for the building reality, not the brochure version.

Real examples

How it works for businesses like yours.

Three real-world setups we deliver across the UK.

🏢

Standard office FTTP install

Modern commercial premises with available FTTP — typical 10-15 working days.

🏘️

Converted period buildings

Victorian/Edwardian conversions — cable runs designed around conservation, sometimes longer install but workable.

🏗️

New-build commercial awaiting fibre enablement

Where the building isn't FTTP-enabled, civils plus carrier work — typically 4-8 weeks. Sometimes Starlink as interim.

Day install
Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does business broadband install actually take? +

FTTP at an already-enabled building: 10-15 working days typically. FTTP where the building needs Openreach/CityFibre civils first: 4-8 weeks. Leased line: 60-120 working days. Starlink: 1-2 weeks. Honest timescales given after the address check.

What happens on install day? +

Carrier engineer arrives to terminate the physical fibre (or activate the existing termination). Telexico engineer attends, commissions the managed router, configures VoIP and WiFi integration, tests, and hands over with documentation. Typical install day 3-5 hours of on-site work.

Will my existing broadband and phones keep working during install? +

Yes — we run them in parallel until the cutover. Old line stays active throughout the install and migration. Cutover scheduled to minimise customer-visible disruption — often out-of-hours.

What if the install gets stuck on civils or building access? +

We chase the carrier and handle building landlord coordination. Listed-building consent, multi-tenant access, duct clearance — all part of managed delivery. Adds time but doesn't block the install.

Do I have to be on-site for the install? +

Yes — someone with authority over the building needs to be on-site for engineer access, sign-off and walkthrough. Doesn't need to be a technical person; we explain what's happening as we go.

What does install actually cost? +

FTTP: typically £150-500 install fee, sometimes waived in promotions. Leased line: £1,500-15,000 depending on civils. Starlink: hardware £400-2,500 plus install £200-500. Quoted firmly after the address check and survey.

Can you handle migration from another provider without me dealing with them? +

Yes — Telexico project manager coordinates with your existing provider for line cease, number porting authorisation, and timing. You sign the porting authority forms; we handle the rest of the carrier-to-carrier coordination.
