The reality

What we hear every week.

The frustrations behind why businesses search for business internet comparison in the first place. If any of these feel familiar, the fix is straightforward.

🤷

"Our provider keeps saying we need more speed."

Bigger speed tiers are the easy upsell. The real question is whether your business actually uses it. Often a slower dedicated line beats a faster shared one.

📉

"We get random outages and no one explains why."

Shared FTTP is great until it isn't. Without dedicated bandwidth or proper failover, an outage means waiting on the provider's queue. For some businesses that's fine. For others it's a daily revenue hit.

🧩

"We're paying for three things we don't understand."

FTTP plus a backup line plus a leased line plus a SIM — bills stacked without clarity. Most setups can be consolidated or simplified once someone reviews them properly.

📊

"We don't know what setup matches our business."

10-person office, 50-person multi-site, creative agency uploading huge files, restaurant taking card payments — each needs a different setup. There isn't one right answer.

How it works

Which type of business internet fits your operation.

Most UK SMBs run on standard business FTTP — shared with neighbours but fast enough for VoIP, cloud apps and card machines. Some need premium FTTP for heavier loads. A smaller group genuinely needs a dedicated leased line (mission-critical operations, heavy upload, contractual SLAs). And almost everyone benefits from 4G/5G failover so a fibre cut doesn't take the business offline. The right answer depends on what you do, where you are, and how much downtime would actually cost you. We'll help you work it out — without pushing the most expensive option.

What you get

The Telexico approach to business internet comparison.

Six things our customers consistently tell us matter.

📡

Standard FTTP

Most cost-effective. Shared contention but plenty of headroom for most SMBs. Right for offices, retail, hospitality, single-site operations.

Premium FTTP

Same fibre, lower contention, faster business SLA. Right for growth-stage businesses or anyone with heavier cloud/video workloads.

🔒

Dedicated leased line

Symmetric, contractual uptime, no contention. Right for businesses where downtime has a real revenue cost or where uploads matter as much as downloads.

🛡

4G/5G failover

Automatic backup connection when your main line drops. Cheap insurance, often essential for VoIP and card payments.

🌐

Multi-site SD-WAN

Linking multiple offices or branches into one managed network. Right for groups, franchises, multi-location businesses.

🛰

Starlink + 5G hybrid

For sites where wired fibre isn't available — rural premises, new builds, temporary sites. Modern, well-supported, often surprising performance.

Consultative, not commodity

Built around your business, not a fixed package.

We start by understanding your current setup: what you have, what you pay, what's frustrating you, and what you can't do today that you wish you could. Then we recommend the right type of connection — sometimes that's a simpler setup than what you have now, sometimes a more robust one. We don't push leased lines on businesses that don't need them, and we don't under-spec offices that genuinely need dedicated bandwidth. Honest sizing, every time.

Real examples

How it works for businesses like yours.

Three real-world setups we deliver across the UK.

🏢

10-person professional services office

Standard FTTP at 150-300Mbps + 4G failover usually fits perfectly. Saves the premium tier upsell while keeping cloud apps and VoIP smooth.

🏬

Multi-site retail group

SD-WAN across sites, leased line at HQ, FTTP at outlets, 4G failover everywhere. Card payments stay live during outages. EPOS centrally managed.

🎨

Creative agency, heavy upload workload

Symmetric leased line genuinely earns its keep — uploading hundreds of GB to clients without dragging. 4G failover keeps email + calls running if the line drops.

Trust + support

Honest sizing, real support, transparent contracts.

We're a Wolverhampton-based UK team that supports businesses across the country. When you call, you reach the engineers who installed your system — not a tiered call centre. Our contracts are written to be understood. Our pricing is indicative until we know your postcode and requirements, then it's firm. If a setup doesn't fit, we tell you honestly.

💷

Transparent pricing

What you sign for is what you pay — including renewal. No teaser pricing that jumps 30-100% at year two. No mid-contract CPI shock. Predictable multi-year cost from day one.

🛠️

Broadband, hosted VoIP, business WiFi, AI Receptionist, 4G/5G failover, CCTV consolidated onto one Telexico relationship. Single bill, single support number, single engineer when something needs attention.

Migration project-managed

Switching to Telexico isn't DIY. We handle contract audit, notice timing, ordering, parallel running, cutover, old-provider close-out. Customer-visible disruption typically measured in minutes.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I know what speed I actually need? +

Rule of thumb: 10Mbps per concurrent video call, 1Mbps per VoIP call, plus headroom for cloud apps and card payments. A 10-person office usually needs 100-300Mbps. We can give you a tailored sizing if you share what your team actually does.

Is a leased line worth it for a small business? +

Usually no — for most SMBs, premium FTTP with 4G failover delivers what they need at a fraction of the cost. Leased lines pay back for businesses where downtime has a real financial cost (payment processing, real-time services, multi-site operations) or where you have heavy upload requirements.

What's the difference between business and consumer fibre? +

The fibre itself is the same. Business plans add SLAs (response time guarantees), lower contention (less peak-time slowdown), and business-grade support. They cost more, but for revenue-generating connections it's usually the right call.

Do you really need failover? +

It depends on whether an outage would cost you. If you take card payments, run VoIP phones, or rely on cloud apps to operate, a 2-hour outage during a working day is expensive. Failover is cheap insurance for those businesses.

Can I switch without downtime? +

Yes — we install the new connection alongside your existing one, test thoroughly, then cut over. Old service stays live until the new one is proven. Most switches are zero-downtime when planned properly.

What if I'm in a postcode with poor fibre? +

We check Openreach, Cityfibre, BT Wholesale and Virgin Media availability before quoting. If fibre genuinely isn't available, we can usually offer a 4G/5G primary setup or Starlink — both work surprisingly well for many use cases.

How does Telexico compare to a comparison-site quote? +

Comparison sites optimise for the cheapest headline number. We optimise for the right setup. Sometimes that's cheaper, sometimes it's not — but you'll know what you're paying for and why, and you'll have a UK team to call when something goes wrong.
