How is FTTP different from FTTC?

FTTC (fibre-to-the-cabinet) brings fibre to a street cabinet, then copper telephone wire to your building. That copper limits speeds to ~80Mbps max and degrades over distance. FTTP (fibre-to-the-premises) brings pure fibre all the way to your building — no copper bottleneck, symmetrical speeds, future-proof technology.

Is FTTP available at my postcode?

Increasingly, yes. Openreach is rolling out FTTP nationwide (target 25 million premises by 2026). CityFibre is the biggest alt-net challenger — full fibre in 150+ UK towns including most of the West Midlands. We check ALL carriers at your postcode and tell you honestly what's available.

How much does FTTP cost?

100Mbps FTTP business package: £30-50/month. 500Mbps: £50-75/month. 1Gbps: £75-150/month. Pricing depends on carrier, contract term and bundled extras. We quote the all-in cost, including router, static IP and any survey fees.

What if my building isn't FTTP-connected?

Three options: (1) wait for Openreach roll-out at your address — we can give you the official date; (2) order a leased line instead, which we can deliver almost anywhere; (3) use 4G/5G business broadband as an interim until FTTP arrives.

Will my VoIP work better on FTTP?

Significantly. VoIP is sensitive to upload bandwidth, latency consistency and jitter — all of which FTTP delivers far better than FTTC. Hosted VoIP, Teams calling and video conferencing all benefit from FTTP.

Can I keep my number if I switch from BT/Sky/TalkTalk?

Yes — number porting is standard. Your existing landline numbers move to Telexico's FTTP package (or to our hosted VoIP platform if you're also upgrading phones). Old service stays live during port.

What router do you supply?

Business-grade router as standard — typically Draytek 2865 or Cisco Meraki Z3 depending on package. Static IP supported, WPA3 WiFi, VLAN-capable, suitable for hosting VoIP and remote-access VPN. Not a basic residential router.
