How many APs do I need for my office?
Depends on layout, materials and user density. Open-plan modern office: roughly 1 AP per 200-400 sqm. Period building with thick walls: more APs needed (1 per 100-200 sqm). Multi-floor: APs per floor. Site survey gives a firm number for your specific premises.
What's a captive portal?
The branded login page guests see when they connect to guest WiFi — typically asks for email or social login, accepts terms, then grants timed access. GDPR-compliant email capture for marketing (where appropriate). Separates guest traffic from corporate network.
Can I have separate WiFi for staff, guests, EPOS and CCTV?
Yes — VLAN segregation. Each network on its own VLAN, security policies per VLAN, bandwidth allocation where needed. Standard for any reasonably-designed business WiFi install. Critical for hospitality (guest separated from EPOS) and any operation with both customer-facing and internal traffic.
How fast is the install?
Typical: 1-3 weeks from order to live for SME installs. Site survey, AP procurement, cable runs (often the long-lead item if new cabling needed), AP mounting and configuration. Faster where existing cabling can be reused; longer for premises needing significant new cabling.
What kit do you supply?
Typically Ubiquiti UniFi APs (excellent value for SME, good roaming, central controller). Aruba or Cisco Meraki for larger deployments where extra features justify the cost. We pick based on your operation rather than pushing one brand.
Do you do mesh WiFi or wired backhaul?
Wired backhaul wherever possible — CAT6 from each AP back to the switch. Mesh as a last resort where cable runs aren't viable. Wired delivers much better performance, especially in larger premises. We recommend cable runs even where it adds install time.
How much does business WiFi installation cost?
