EPOS Caller ID — Common Questions

EPOS caller ID integration connects your VoIP phone system to your EPOS till. When a customer calls your business number, their name, number and order history appear on your till screen before you answer — pulled directly from your EPOS customer database. No manual searching, no asking for names and addresses you already have on file.

No — you keep your existing number. Whether you currently have a BT landline, ISDN line or another VoIP provider, we port your number to Telexico's VoIP platform. Your customers call the same number they always have, and you get EPOS caller ID on top.

We integrate with most major UK EPOS systems including ICRTouch, Lightspeed, Square for Restaurants, Tevalis, Revel Systems, OrderPad, Zonal, Kobas, Clover, EPOS Now, Shopify POS and many others. If your EPOS system supports webhooks or has an API, we can almost certainly connect it. Contact us with your EPOS provider and we'll confirm compatibility.

EPOS caller ID integration is included free with Telexico VoIP plans. You pay for the VoIP phone line (from £8/month per user) — the EPOS integration itself doesn't cost extra. Setup is also free — we handle the technical connection between your VoIP line and your EPOS system at no charge.

Most EPOS caller ID integrations are live within 24–48 hours. Once we've confirmed compatibility with your EPOS system, our technical team configures the connection remotely — no engineer visit required in most cases. We'll test it end-to-end before handing over.

If a new customer calls — someone not in your EPOS database — you'll see their phone number on screen. Your staff can then create a new customer record during the call. Over time, as you build up your regular customer base in the EPOS, the caller ID becomes more and more useful.

If a customer calls with a withheld number (141 or a genuinely private number), no caller ID data will be available — this is a limitation of how caller ID works on all phone systems, not specific to our integration. For the majority of calls, though, the number is visible and the EPOS lookup works perfectly.

In most cases, yes — as long as your existing system is VoIP or can be connected via SIP trunks. If you're on a traditional BT analogue or ISDN line, you'd need to migrate to VoIP first (which we handle as part of the setup). Given BT's 2027 PSTN switch-off, migrating to VoIP is something every UK business needs to do anyway.
