What is Openreach?
Openreach is BT Group's infrastructure division and operates the largest broadband network in the UK. Almost every internet service provider in the UK — including Telexico — uses Openreach's physical cables to deliver broadband to homes and businesses.
Openreach is rolling out full fibre (FTTP) across Wolverhampton's WV postcodes as part of its nationwide build programme. Where FTTP isn't yet available, Openreach FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) is typically the most widely available option.
FTTP vs FTTC — What's the Difference?
- FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) — full fibre runs directly to your building. Faster, more reliable, symmetric upload speeds.
- FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) — fibre runs to a street cabinet, then copper from cabinet to your premises. Slower upload, more affected by distance from cabinet.
We always recommend FTTP where available. If FTTP hasn't reached your postcode yet, FTTC with a leased line or 4G/5G failover is a solid interim solution.
